Soccerfest Homepage

SoccerFest is a recreational, pre-Fall season tournament that gives U7-U12 teams the chance to connect for fun, tournament-style play. This will be a great event for young referees to get on field experience with the PTW Mentor Program in place.  We will need experienced referees, and we welcome new & youth referees as well.

Provide your referee availability in GameOfficials.net, Playthewhistle Group 1059. Use Change Identity to switch to the PTW group.  If you need to be added to our assignor group please contact the PTW Assignors.

Referee Check - In

Referees must check in at referee HQ each day, a minimum of 45 minutes prior to their first game of the day.  Referee HQ is noted on the field layout map.  Plan accordingly for traffic & parking.  Arrive early so you are present for the daily referee announcements.

Game Cards

IMG 6068

Game cards provide the referees at check-in. This is the official report of the game and verification for payroll.  Must be completed after each game.  Winning coach will deliver the game card to tournament HQ, in the event of tie game, the home team coach is to deliver the completed card.

Center Referees must enter the final score & game report in After Games of GameOfficials as a back up, and for verification of crew for payroll.

Important competition notes are indicated on the cards. Take note of the length of game, uniform conflict information, type of game (i.e. Group/Preliminary play, consolation, semi-final, championship).  Review provided details - can the game end in a tie? are there overtime periods?

Center referee, both assistant referees & 4th officials must review and print your name on the game card for each game worked.

4th Official - "Standby Referee"

If you are assigned as the 4th official...

During group/preliminary play you will be paid as a "standby".  You must be present at the fields, and in/or near the referee tent during this time, or where the PTW site coordinator can find you .  Referees on standby may be asked to fill in as needed, assist with errands between fields (i.e. Game card collection, team check-ins, etc.) as requested by the referee site coordinator.  If you are not in the referee HQ you will not be paid the standby fee.

In knock-out rounds of competition (semi-final, championship games) you will work the game and perform the duties of the 4th official.

The 4th official has many responsibilities, prior to working a game as the 4th official take time to review the Guide to Procedures.

If you are scheduled as a referee for standby and you receive a score reminder you must enter a generic score of 99-99.

Mentor Program

The PTW Mentor program is always a big part of every tournament event.  Mentors are on site through out the tournament to offer support and feedback to referees.  Tournaments are a great time to receive additional education and feedback about your on field performance.  Grade 9 recreational referees are encouraged to work this event.  Give every game your best effort, you never know who may be watching
